Key BESS Use Cases
1. PV Charging — Daytime (Scenario 1)
During the day:
- PV generates electricity
- Part of the energy goes to the grid
- Excess energy is stored in BESS through the PCS
- EMS optimizes energy flow based on tariffs and load
Benefits:
Higher PV farm ROI, peak shaving, stable output.
2. Evening Discharge to the Grid (Scenario 2)
Once solar generation stops, the PCS discharges BESS into the AC bus and through the transformer to the grid.
Benefits:
Selling at peak evening prices, stabilizing site load, supporting local grid.
3. Winter Strategy: Night Charging, Daytime Export (Scenario 3)
- Night: BESS charges from the grid at low-cost tariff
- Daytime: stored energy is sold during peak tariff
Benefits:
Energy arbitrage with or without PV, seasonal flexibility.
4. Hybrid Mode — Wind 24/7 + PV + BESS (Scenario 4)
Daytime: Wind + PV cover load, excess stored in BESS
Evening/Night: Wind + BESS feed the load or grid

Round-the-clock renewable operation, priority control via EMS.
5. Load Priority — PV + BESS → Industrial Plant (Scenario 5)
EMS prioritizes power delivery:
- PV
- BESS
- Grid backup
Any shortfall is automatically imported from the grid.
